14th Annual "They Are Worthy"
Benefit Softball Tournament,
Daly City, July 9 & 10, 2011
SWC's 14th annual "They are Worthy" Benefit Softball Tournament was held in Daly City on July 9 and 10 at Westlake Park. Approximately $3,000 was raised, and many donations of sports equiment were collected from participating players and teams, all for SWC youth programs.
A total of 8 men's teams and 3 coed teams participated in the weekend event. The men's teams were divided into two 4-team pools with four teams advancing to the finals on Sunday. The coed teams participated in a round-robin bracket. ALL teams in ALL divisions divisions were guaranteed 3 games.
Championship teams were awarded T-shirts and MVP prizes, and All Stars from every participating team were also awarded prizes ranging from gift certificates and gift cards, gift bags, and local attraction passes/tickets. In all, more than $1,200 worth of prizes were awarded to teams and players!
The event raffle is ongoing until July 24, with a Grand Prize of a 4-day, 3-night, fishing trip in Mexico (courtesy Baja Pirates)! Other prizes include complimentary dinners, a DVD home theater system, local attraction passes, a billiards party, live musical theater tickets, a San Francisco Giants autographed baseball (Jeremy Affeldt), SF Giants tickets, and other gift certificates and gift cards. The raffle allows us to raise even more needed funds for our kids!
Congratulations to all champions, MVPs and All Stars, and thanks to ALL teams for their participation and support. All funds raised will go directly to providing deserving children with much needed sports equipment, skills training, and mentoring programs (see where we've worked here).
