Volunteer Trip 2008, "Following Freedom"
April 19-27, 2008
SWC is thrilled to offer our Mexico trip for vacationers and volunteers in 2008. You are invited to join us for a truly inspirational trip to help the kids or vacation as you please. As usual, we will be working to supply much needed sports equipment and skills clinics to communities and schools with little or no resources. We ask that you save at least one of your check-in baggage spaces (preferably both) on your flight to Mexico for a bag of sports equipment (that we can provide) that will be donated during the trip.
This trip, entitled “Following Freedom,” comes on the heels of a shipment of sports equipment (on a boat called the M/V Freedom) made to Mexico in November of 2007 that is waiting in storage for its distribution. Volunteers will fly into San Jose del Cabo and stay in Los Barriles, just a few shorts footsteps from miles of beautiful beach! During our stay we will work in schools in and around the area, as well as trek to La Paz to the north to benefit more children in need. At the end of the week, we will participate in an exhibition softball game and celebrate new friendships at our farewell dinner party. Other activities for vacationers and volunteers alike include ATV rentals, a day trip to San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas, island eco tours, big game fishing, jet skiing, kayaking, scuba diving, and snorkeling.
The dates for this 8-day trip are Saturday, April 19, to Sunday, April 27, 2008. Cost for the trip per person, double occupancy, is $1130 from Seattle, $1080 from the San Francisco Bay Area, $930 from Los Angeles, and $1030 from Sacramento. Add $210 if rooming alone. (For other departure cities, or for trip price WITHOUT airfare, please contact SWC for more information.)
Included in the price are airfare, hotel, welcome and farewell meals, all group/SWC work-related ground transportation, and an SWC volunteer T-shirt. Not included are costs for extra activities. (A separate form for extra activities will be sent at a later date.) Some of this trip is tax-deductible, please consult your personal tax advisor. Accounting for all trip expenses will be provided to each volunteer at the end of the trip and all unused monies will be reimbursed.
A $100 deposit is due by February 15, 2008. (If a deposit is not received by February 15, you can still travel with us, depending on flight and space availability, with a late processing fee of $100.) Deposits are fully refundable until March 1st. If you cancel AFTER March 1st, there is a $60 cancellation fee. TRIP MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY MARCH 15.
